Our meeting on 9th April, when 55 members were present, was presided over by the Treasurer, M. Bickle. The first business of the evening was the election of a new President to replace K. Webber, who has recently retired from the Club. Nominations were called for and this resulted in the ultimate election of B.H. Snell as our chief officer.

The new President commenced his duties with a vote of thanks to K. Webber. It was decided at this meeting that our next competition will be in two divisions, l, Table Top and 2, Trick Photography. The date for judging was fixed as 11th June.

At the monthly meeting, it was decided that an Open Competition would be conducted on 12th October, and that a judge would be selected by the committee.

During the month, several enthusiastic members entered varied photographs in the Annual Wagga Wagga Show. Mr. R.V. Williams was proud to receive second prize for his entry, Bowing to Destiny, which he took on a recent trip to The Rock.

The Club enjoyed a most interesting film evening arranged by Mr. R. Williams, who displayed a large collection of beautifully colored Kodachrome slides which he had taken during the last six months. He also showed a selection of black-and-white subjects. After the screening, Mr. Williams delivered a most interesting lecture on Kodachrome photography, dealing with subject matter and color subjects.

A special section is being set aside for color enthusiasts who are pushing ahead with Kodachrome transparencies and cine films. Flexichrome color processing is also being experimented with and some good results have been obtained. Many more books on photography have been purchased and the Club now has a fine circulating library. Mr. Williams owns his own private photographic library and he has lent the club members some of the books from this collection for the time being.

Our Club would be glad to welcome ideas or suggestions from other societies. Our Secretary is Mr. T.J. Moore, Apprentice Photo Club, App. Section, R.A.A.F., Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.

At our monthly meeting on 12th October, our competition Wagga and District was judged by Mr. Coots and the results were: 1, T.J. Moore, Defeat; 2, H.B. Kay, Tranquillity, 3, C. Peterson, Cattle Country. The judge presented the three prizes and gave a short talk on the winning entries, as well as some of the other prints. He expressed the need for correct titling of entries and the use of filters for bringing out cloud formations.

Mr. R.V. Williams delivered a short talk on indoor color photography. He displayed some Ektachrome indoor work which proved of great interest. We will hold our next competition on November 30th, the subject being Crime Photography, which should prove most interesting.

A meeting was held on 26th October and the Kodachrome Competition was judged by the non-competing members of the club, and the result was a win for M.D. Bickle. Mr. R. Williams gave a criticism of most entries and they were discussed by the club members. Another such competition is proposed for the beginning of next year.

At this meeting the President explained that the library is open to members on Tuesday and Friday nights. All new members joining up for 1954 were issued with a syllabus for the year, two films and a camera. A list of members was prepared for classes in developing and printing. Mr. L. The monthly meeting was opened by the President Mr. B. Snell, and Messrs Smith, L. Coote and R. V. Williams were in attendance. It was decided to hold the Snow Trip at Mount Buffalo on 17th July. It was also decided to form a separate branch of the club for movies and color slides. It will not be necessary for members of this group to take part in competitions during the year but Mr. Coote suggested that they should be prepared to give cine or slide shows instead.

Members enjoyed an outing to Albury on 20th March. They hired a bus which arrived in Albury at 11am, and the time passed quickly in seeing the sights of the town and photographing every angle. At 3pm they drove out to the Hume Weir on the way home. It was a most interesting day for all concerned.

The monthly meeting, held on 3rd May, was opened by the President, Mr. B. Snell, Messrs. Coote and Smith being in attendance. Three new members joined the club, these being J. Sheppard, N. Moulds and P. Oversby.

The snow trip to Mount Buffalo is to be held on Saturday, 24th July, and if possible we shall leave on Saturday afternoon and return on Sunday night. There are now thirty members wishing to undertake the trip.

A 16mm film rewinder has been procured as a presentation to Mr. R.V. Williams on his retirement from the club. Mr. Williams has done much in working for better club facilities, and upon his retirement he presented to the club the equipment for cold cathode fluorescent lighting in one of our rooms.

The Action Competition was judged by Mr. L. Lingham and the awards and prizes were: 1, I. Rahman, a Kodak Photo-guide; 2, T. Moore, a book, Developing and Printing; 3, N. Burton, a book, How to Make Good Pictures. In the section for new members G. Thomson won the prize which was a Photo Album donated by Mr. L.S. Coote. A Kodachrome Competition was also held and the result was in favor of B. Snell who was presented with a book prize by Mr. L. Lingham.

On 24th May, the monthly meeting was opened by the President, Mr. B. Snell in the presence of Messrs. Coote and Smith. The snow trip to Mt. Buffalo is to be conducted on Sunday, July 25th. We are to leave Wagga about 4am and take with us cut-lunches and tea.

It has been found necessary, when the members are using the darkroom, to set a time limit on the use of the enlarger, as there have been so many wishing to enlarge their prints at the same time. Because there is a considerable call upon their time in carrying out their official assignments the President, Secretary and Treasurer of the club have been exempted from darkroom duties.

Mr. Coote entertained the members at this meeting with a screening of 16mm Kodachrome films of the Royal Visit to Wagga and of the club’s trip to Albury on March 20th, and rounded off the evening with some films of general interest.
