BERRIMA DISTRICT PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY
COLORED SLIDES WERE ENJOYED
The monthly meeting of the Berrima District Photographic Society was held on Tuesday, 25th September, in the C.W.A. Rooms, Bowral. Owing to heavy rain the attendance was smaller than expected, but several new members joined.

The President (W.A. Palfery) introduced Mr. S. Findlay, who is a keen color photographer. In his remarks the president pointed out that the Society was interested in all types of photography, and the principles of the art applied to all kinds of cameras, irrespective of price, brand, or reputation.

A selection of twenty-five mounted prize-winning photographs was on display. These had been supplied by Messrs. Kodak Ltd., and were very much appreciated. Mr. Findlay then proceeded to show his color slides of Tasmania. These numbered 160 altogether and commenced by several Melbourne pictures taken from the air. Included in the slides were those of Port Arthur, coastal scenes and several splendid dawn and sunset shots. The show ended with several beautiful interior shots of flowers, and a particularly fine slide of a jacaranda avenue in full bloom in Brisbane City Park. Members asked many questions and Mr. Findlay explained the importance of balance and correct exposure in color work. A vote of thanks was carried by acclamation.

The next meeting is on Monday, 29th October (not on Tuesday), and members are asked to watch the smalls column of the Four Mails each month. A display of prints by members is to be the main feature at this meeting.

Several members were busy during Jubilee week end and some interesting pictures should be the result.

BERRIMA DISTRICT PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY
At the meeting in the C.W.A. Rooms, Bowral, on Monday, October 29th, the President (W.A. Palfery) gave a short address in which he stressed the importance of constructive criticism aimed at improvement in technique, and in photographic composition. There was a very good display of prints by members, including portraits and local scenes. Some interesting shots of Mt. Lamington in eruption were brought by Mr. Winley (Hill Top).

A collection of color slides, chiefly made during the Jubilee Celebrations, was then screened. Messrs. Crago, Eastley, Heaton and Seville contributed, and the show was greatly appreciated.

A Photographic Quiz was conducted to conclude the meeting. Mr. M. A’Hearn kindly acted as compere, and two teams competed. Questions on types of cameras, lenses, shutters, negative materials, and filters were asked, which the teams were almost equally successful in answering.
