CHELSEA CAMERA CLUB
A Camera Club was successfully launched at Chelsea (Victoria), on 1st August. The prime mover, Mr. John Leslie of Station Street, was elected president. Mr. C.T. Kryggcr of Berry Avenue, was elected Secretary and Treasurer. Nine others were foundation members, including a local chemist, and there are good prospects of at least one medical man joining up in the near future. At present, meetings are being held at the Secretary’s home, but there is a very fine meeting place lined up for the Club in October, and we will then have every needed convenience.

At the meeting held on 15th August, the President projected some very good color slides taken on Kodachrome. Members were delighted with the commentary he gave during the showing, which amounted to a lesson on the various exposures required for each shot. Literature from Kodak Ltd. was handed round, and many members were interested in some of the new cameras and accessories which have come on to the market. It would not be surprising to see some new cameras at the next meeting and new faces as well, for the meeting to be held on 29th August, at the above address will be a Gear Night.

There are excellent opportunities for good photography in Chelsea. For the summer, there are six and a half miles of sandy beaches, which are well patronized with bathers and patrolled by five life-saving societies; and there is plenty of boating. The terrain is full of interest, inasmuch as the State’s busiest highway passes through it, and two attractive bridges span the local rivers. The scenery to the East also has many admirers.

With these prospects, the Club should not be short of photographic material. We have at least three enlargers, and members have shown their willingness to assist each other in bringing their best shots up to salon standard. All look forward to a good, strong membership in the next few months. Prominence has been given to the Club in the local press.

Any camera enthusiasts living in, or near Chelsea, are invited to contact the secretary, Mr. C.T. Krygger at Berry Avenue, Chelsea.

CHELSEA CAMERA CLUB
The club will celebrate its first anniversary, by holding a combined annual meeting and photographic display on Friday August 28th, at the Nola Barber Kindergarten, Aspendale. Assistance has been promised by the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies, which this club has recently joined. Monthly competitions have been held regularly throughout the year and the aggregate winner will be announced at the annual meeting. A special competition will also be held for August. Neighboring clubs will be invited, together with the Mayor and Councilors of the City of Chelsea. The Kindergarten committee who have been kind enough to lend the building to the club will also be invited.

On Saturday 29th August, the display will be thrown open to the general public, with a silver coin admission, the proceeds to go to the Kindergarten. It is hoped to have a good variety of prints from various sources and a special display showing the work of the club in its first year. The visitors will be entertained with Kodaslides taken by the president and others. A working bee has been formed to construct a set of display easels, and arrange all details for the successful functioning of the whole endeavor.

The club is 22 strong, and it hopes to double that number before another year has passed.
