This has inspired the formation of the Coonabarabran Camera Club, which held its first lecture at the club rooms before a well attended meeting. A practical demonstration of developing and its technique was given by Mr. D. Reid, headmaster of Coonabarabran Primary School.

MOUNTAIN CLIMB ABANDONED
Boggy and dangerous ground on the route has caused the Coonabarabran Camera Club to abandon plans to climb the spectacular Spire View, in the Warrumbungle Mountains near Coonabarabran. The attempt had been scheduled for Sunday.

The mountain is reported by geologists to be an upthrust of an upheaval more than 100,000,00 years ago. It contains fossilized marine shells, and is one of the famous landmarks and beauty spots of the Coonabarabran district.

PHOTOGRAPHERS HINTS FOR AMATEURS
Speaking as a professional photographer, Mr. P. Thomas, of Gilgandra in an address to the Coonabarabran Camera Club, said that small box cameras were capable of taking a perfect picture.

Advising members not to purchase expensive equipment, but to learn with modestly priced gear, and closely study the subject. Mr. Thompson demonstrated various poses and studies with lighting effects using a member, Mr. E. Moore as a model.

Expensive lens were not essential for salon pictures, said Mr. Thompson, adding that one well known photographic artist had exhibited a selection of beautiful studies, later telling his astounded audience that the lenses used were such sundry items as spectacles, flashlight torch lens, and lantern bulls-eyes and the lens out of a 3/6 camera.

The President of the Club (Mr. Vic Brain) moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Thompson for his interesting address and this was carried by acclamation.

COONABARABRAN CAMERA CLUB
Members of the Coonabarabran Camera Club enjoyed a high measure of success in the photographic section at the recent Coonabarabran Show. Reports indicated that the varied types of photography and the high standard of the work proved a great attraction, and that there was a constant stream of visitors to that section of the show. The pictures were judged by Mrs. R. Stokes, who stated that she would have liked to have had far more prizes at her disposal than were available. The Fine Arts judge also referred to the outstanding quality of the photographic exhibits.
