THE DISABLED PHOTOGRAPHERS POSTAL CLUB
The club has now been in operation for some years. It was established to form some link amongst those who have an interest in photography, but have to foster this interest under the handicap of physical disability. Numbers are not great and members are scattered in three States, but, in spite of this, great interest is maintained in our hobby and quite a high standard is being achieved, e.g., acceptances in salons.

The notebook, which bears the apt title of “The Viewfinder”, is the main interest, and whilst its circulation is not rapid, many are the words and often strong are the debates it carries around. Articles cover many topics, both on the art side and technical aspects. “Individualism in Photography” so far has proved the most contentious debate, and now we find “A Plea for Purer Photography” is liable to stir the hornets to life again. The evergreen topic, developers, did not rouse much comment however, and strangely enough all members use D-76 as their main negative developer.

The folio, which is restricted to 8 x 6-inch and 6 1/2 x 4 3/4 inch prints, is growing to quite an impressive collection. Each print is criticized by each member; this fact alone proves quite an education.

Competitions are conducted twice yearly. The January subject is selected, whilst the June subject is “Landscape”, with the Arthur Smith Memorial Trophy as the award. We are indebted to our good friend, W.S. Wood, for his donation of this trophy, which is an oil painting by the late Arthur Smith. It serves as a fitting tribute to this gentleman’s great help and interest in our Club during its early days.

Competition results:
STILL LIFE: 1, C.M. Kruger; 2, R.E. Seaman.
LANDSCAPE (THE ARTHUR SMITH TROPHY): 1, R.E. Seaman; 2, C.M. Kruger.
PORTRAIT: 1, R.E. Seaman.

The Club is anxious to contact any disabled persons who have this fascinating hobby as their interest. We feel certain we can help you in furthering this interest; write the Secretary, A.R. Robinson, Private Bag, Tongala, Victoria.
