DUNGOG CAMERA CLUB
It is refreshing in these times of stress to hear of a new photographic society being established, and we welcome the Dungog Camera Club. The club was promoted by Mr. W.J Brown, who reported at the preliminary meeting that he expected a membership to total about 40 names, of which he had some 27 already in hand. The annual subscription was fixed at four shillings. We believe, however, that no camera club can exist and do efficient work on such a small “subscription”, and we urge the members to raise the amount to at least a guinea a year. Such a figure will enable the club to establish a dark-room, fit it with enlarging lantern, etc., a very necessary fitment if the club is to be a popular and useful concern.

DUNGOG CAMERA CLUB
A meeting of the Dungog Camera Club was held on Monday night last, about 15 members being present, Mr. Elliott in the chair.

A demonstration of negative making was given by Mr. W.J. Brown. It was proposed by Dr. Gilchrist, and seconded by Mr. Macaulay that the next meeting be held on 3rd July next. Members to bring plates and films, and develop them there, where all faults or defects can be pointed out to the members.

Meeting to take place fortnightly. We hope to see at least 30 members roll up on the 3rd July at Parish Hall, Intending members are invited along to the meeting.

DUNGOG CAMERA CLUB
The second gathering of the Dungog Camera Club was held on Monday night, when a goodly number of those interested in the art of photography were present to witness the process of developing. This is a highly important step in producing a good picture. It is easy to spoil a carefully exposed plate or film unless care and judgment are displayed in development.

The demonstrator for the evening (Mr E. Burrage) first stated how a plate was prepared before it was fit for the camera, and then explained how an over-exposed or under-exposed plate should be treated in developing, to counteract any error in exposure.

A number of members had brought their own pictures for treatment, and after the highly interesting and instructive remarks, the lecturer proceeded to "bring out" the effects and defects of the efforts of some of our amateur artists. Examination of the results gave general satisfaction.

After the various good and bad points were duly explained, the members dispersed with the knowledge that the time had been well spent.

A general opinion was expressed that the next meeting of the club should be an open air one, when members could bring their cameras and take pictures of scenery, etc.

DUNGOG CAMERA CLUB
A pleasant evening was spent on Monday by the members who were able to be present, and no one regretted the slight inconvenience of leaving their fireside for the cold walk to the hall. Gaslight development was the subject chosen by the demonstrator, Mr W.J. Brown, and the various negatives treated first by himself and then by members gave complete satisfaction. Mr. Brown briefly explained how to expose plates or films by a kerosene light, and then proceeded to bring out the picture on the specially prepared paper. As each picture became visible the discussion became general, and friendly criticism was invited on the various opinions as how and why were freely explained. The idea that an open air photo picnic should be arranged for some Saturday was received with favor.
