At the last monthly meeting of the Lismore Camera Club a small presentation was made to Mr P.K. Hasting, the honorary advisor of this society. At a previous meeting Mr Hasting was elected a life member and it was unanimously decided to make him a presentation. This was made last meeting night, when Mr Syer, the president of the Club handed Mr Hasting a handsome silver-mounted pipe and in a few words expressed the Club's appreciation of the services rendered by Mr Hasting to the amateurs of Lismore. The Mayor (Ald. McKenzie) and Mr Simmons (Hon.Secretary) supported Mr Syer's remarks. Mr Hasting suitably responded.

The result of the Lismore Camera Club's second annual competition are announced as follows: First prize, an inscribed gold medal carrying with it the championship of the year; Mr Charles McKenzie (Mayor of Lismore). Second prize, a trophy valued at 10s; Mr Stanley Simmons (Hon.Secretary of the club.) Third prize, a trophy valued at 5s; Mr C. St. Syer (President of the club.) The respective points gained by the winners were 50, 46 and 41. Mr Hasting (the judge), commenting on the work shown by the competitors, states there is a vast improvement on that of the previous year and that the work of the prize-winners was very creditable. The Lismore Camera Club is now in its fourth year. The third annual competition is now about to commence and intending members who wish to compete should communicate at once with the Hon.Secretary, who will be pleased to supply any information concerning the club.

A meeting of the Lismore Camera Club was held on Friday night last. It was decided to re-commence the periodical exhibitions of club photographs, the exhibitions, however, to be held quarterly instead of monthly. Club expeditions to country scenes of photographic interest were also proposed. The subscription was fixed at 2s 6d per quarter.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mr C. McKenzie; vice-presidents, Messrs. Board and Syer, Drs. Humphery and Parker; committee, Rev. Kirkpatrick, Dr. Franceschi, Messrs. Wicks and Gostellow; treasurer, Mr S. Simmons; Hon.Secretary, Dr. Orr.

The Lismore Camera Club is to be congratulated on its return to activity, as it is not only a source of interest to those already proficient in the photographic art, but its object is also to assist those of its members who are beginners and stimulate photographic interest generally. The club is to meet again on Friday, December 14th.

A meeting of the Lismore Camera Club was held at the Emu Photographic Studios on Friday last. Plans were made for an "evening" on January 18th, when a number of interesting photographs will be on view and a couple of papers are to be read by members. In order that members may prepare during the coming holidays for the quarterly competitions special notice was drawn to the subjects arranged for the different quarterly exhibitions. For March the subjects are interiors and flowers or foliage; for June landscape and cloud effects; September animal and architectural; December seascapes and moving subjects. One print of each of the two subjects is to be shown. Mr Fernside, of the Emu Studios, consented to act as judge for the club.

LATE JUDGE DOCKER
Judge Docker, who died the other day in a ripe old age, was a familiar figure on the tennis courts in Lismore and once gave an address before, the OLD Lismore Camera Club, for he was an expert photographer. Invariably he read the lessons at St. Andrew's, Lismore, and his activity and assiduity in all things was remarkable for his years. The distinguished judge believed in tempering mercy with justice and once gave a man two years for stealing a tin of baking powder. A section of the press raised a storm of protest, but they concealed the fact that the man was a hardened criminal. It was Judge Docker who gave fifteen years' penal servitude to two "cracks" who blew open the safe at Lismore Railway Station, which drew from one his thanks and the hope that when he came out again the judge would be in a hot place, that is — well not on this planet, unless it be Hay, Booligal or North Queensland.
