NORTH SYDNEY TRAMWAY PHOTOGRAPHIC CAMERA CLUB
The North Sydney Tramway Photographic Camera Club held their opening night at the clubrooms, Ridge-street, North Sydney, on Friday evening, the 7th December 1909. There was a good attendance of members and intending members.

During the evening Mr. Keys, of Miller street, North Sydney, who has kindly consented to give his valuable services to the club, instructed the members in the mysteries of this fascinating hobby. His initial effort was much appreciated by the members, who gained some very valuable information. During the evening Mr. Keys took a flashlight photograph of those present.

The club at present has a membership of sixteen, and we expect this number will be greatly increased before long, thanks to the untiring efforts of the promoter of the club, Mr. F. Simmonds.

NORTH SYDNEY TRAMWAY PHOTOGRAPHIC CAMERA CLUB
A very enjoyable outing was experienced by the members of the North Sydney Tramway Photographic Camera Club on a recent Sunday, the field of operation being Cowan, via Kuring-gai Chase. This place is well worth a visit by any one desirous of obtaining anything out of the common.

Mr. Keys, the club’s professional friend, was amongst the party and devoted much time and attention to each and every member, the result being a trip full of enjoyment and experience, resulting in a batch of splendid negatives. The club, which has only been in existence a few months, is making rapid progress, thanks to much outside help and the great interest taken by the members.

NORTH SYDNEY TRAMWAY CAMERA CLUB
At the April meeting of the North Sydney Tramway Camera Club the members were treated to an evening by Mr. Perier, the subject of the lecture being, “Advice to Beginners”. Mr. Perier, for a couple of hours, kept the members interested, and during that time gave us some very valuable information, which was greatly appreciated.

On Sunday, 3rd April, the members journeyed to Manly for an outing, finishing up at Freshwater, where a fine lot of negatives were procured of the breakers.

On Monday 4th, Messrs. Patchett and Archer, representing Messrs. Burroughs, Welcome and Co., gave a lantern lecture on the “Qualifications of Tabloids”. The slides shown were of excellent quality, and very beautiful effects were produced. As each slide was exposed, Mr. Patchett lectured on same, which was much appreciated by the members.

NORTH SYDNEY TRAMWAY CAMERA CLUB
The members of the North Sydney Tramway Camera Club were on Monday, 4th July, treated to an evening by the promoter and captain of the club, Mr. F. Simmonds, ably assisted by Mr. J. Keys. The subject for the evening was a lantern demonstration of the different outings held by the club. The slides shown were of excellent quality, and were greatly appreciated by the members. Mr. Keys then showed a number of slides kindly lent by Australian Kodak, Ltd., which, together with slides shown by Mr. Simmonds, filled a very pleasant evening. The club is in a very promising position, new members joining every month.

NORTH SYDNEY TRAMWAY CAMERA CLUB
The First Quarterly Competition of the North Sydney Tramway Camera Club ended on the 1st November, with the following results:

A GRADE:

B GRADE:

FIRST
F. Simmonds
SECOND
W. Keff
THIRD
W. Tamsett
FIRST
J. Gannon
H. Bollard
THIRD
H. Crowley

And for the best all-round picture for a medal, presented by the club’s mentor, Mr. J. Key, was won by Mr. J. Gannon. The judging for the medal was an item of great interest, and after considerable time spent by the judge with pictures by Mr. Gannon and Mr. Simmonds, he decided in favor of the former. Mr. Gannon has only been using a camera some six months, and to secure a special prize in the competition speaks volumes for the club's instructor, Mr. J. Key. The judge spoke very favorably on the pictures sent in, and predicts good work in the future.

NORTH SYDNEY TRAMWAY CAMERA CLUB
The members of the North Sydney Tramway Camera Club held their “winding-up” evening for the year 1911 on the 21st of month. The secretary’s report (financial and otherwise) was most satisfactorily received. Competitions (the principal being the highest number of points gained for the year) resulted in a win for F. Simmonds, 1; W.J. Tamsett, 2; J. Gannon, 3; W. Springett doing some excellent work, and being the only member who qualified in B grade, won easily. The trophies were presented by Mr. C. Parnell, who, in the course of his remarks, reminded the members that, regardless of age, life without a hobby of some kind was incomplete. Photography, he considered, was one of the most interesting, instructive and fascinating.

The evening was concluded by a splendid program of music, vocal items, etc., contributed by the members.

NORTH SYDNEY TRAMWAY CAMERA CLUB
The members of the North Sydney Tramway Camera Club held an outing on Sunday, 8th September, to Narrabeen, where a very enjoyable day was spent under the leadership of Mr. John Keys, of North Sydney, who is always ready and willing to assist anyone re photography. A feature of the day was a trial of the Vest Pocket Kodak, a number of the members being equipped, the result being a very good lot of negatives. These small cameras bid fair to become very popular, judging from the excellent results obtained.
