WARRNAMBOOL CAMERA CLUB
On the 15th May the Warrnambool Camera Club was formed here. Mr. W.H. McMahon was elected the club’s first President. Messrs. Kennedy and Co., Timor-street, offered the free use of their dark room, which was accepted with thanks. The club intend purchasing an enlarging lantern; also having a photo graphic library for the use of members.

During the month information was received from the Photographic Association of Victoria and the Ballarat Camera Club re the working of their associations. This was of great benefit to us in the forming of our rules, etc.

On Thursday 1st May, the first official meeting of the club eventuated, when a drag load of members journeyed to Shelley Beach for the afternoon. A pleasant time was spent, and some good pictures resulted.

At a meeting held on Thursday evening June 8th, Mr. R. Younger gave an interesting and instructive lecture on “Apparatus and its use”, which was appreciated by the members.

At the next outing a competition for a trophy will take place for the, best picture taken during the day.

At the ordinary meeting held on 3rd July, Father Brophy occupied the chair. In connection with the forming of our library it was decided to subscribe to the “British Journal of Photography", “Photography and Focus”, and “The Australasian photo-review”.

The competition photos taken by the members on Thursday afternoon last were judged by Mr. C. Foyle. The trophy valued at 10/6, and donated by Messrs, Kennedy and Co., was secured by Father Brophy. The entries were large, but owing, to unsatisfactory weather on that after noon the prints were not quite so good as were expected. The item on the program tor the evening was a demonstration by Mr. Foyle on developers and developing negatives. The lecturer treated the members to a long discourse on the subject, and developed several plates, pointing out the correct exposures and the advantages of using backed plates for the prevention of halation. The plates used were half-backed, so the difference was easily seen.

WARRNAMBOOL CAMERA CLUB
The ordinary meeting of the Warrnambool Camera Club was held on 7th August. It was decided to hold the club’s future outings on the Thursday afternoon following the general meeting, which will allow the members ample time to have their photos finished by the next meeting. A competition will be held at every outing, and it is expected that this will cause some enthusiasm.

A Thornton-Pickard New Improved Patent “Ruby” Enlarger has been purchased by the club, and a demonstration on enlarging will be given at the next meeting.

WARRNAMBOOL CAMERA CLUB
The ordinary meeting of the Warrnambool Camera Club was held on October 9th, the President, Mr. W.H. MacMahon, in the chair.

A letter was received from Kodak, Ltd., of Melbourne, stating they were willing to do anything to further the interests of the club if they were communicated with. A parcel of samples, packets of plates and papers were also received, and are being distributed amongst the members. The secretary was instructed to write and thank them for letter and samples. Though the members are familiar with the Kodak papers, which are certainly the best, not many of them have been using the Austral plates. The club expects to have a demonstration given by Mr. Taylor, the Kodak representative, on his next visit to Warrnambool. Like other country clubs, we have some difficulty in getting capable instructors, so Mr. Taylor’s visit will be welcomed by the members. On Thursday afternoon, the 12th October, an outing was held in the local gardens, when nearly all the members turned out and a nice afternoon was spent. A competition was held for a trophy, an enlarged picture framed of the club’s first outing, the work of Father Brophy, and very kindly presented by him for competition.

The last competition was won by Mr. C. Rooney, being a picture of one of the local lighthouses with a seascape as a background.

The Club is steadily increasing its membership, and we hope for great possibilities in the future.

WARRNAMBOOL CAMERA CLUB
The ordinary meeting of the Warrnambool Camera Club was held on Monday evening, the 6th November. The chair was occupied by the president. Mr. McMahon. One new member was elected and was welcomed by the President.

The monthly competition pictures judged and criticized during the evening brought for ward the largest number of prints that have been exhibited by the members yet. A very marked improvement all round was noticeable, which no doubt comes from the stimulus given the members by association with the club. The prize, on this occasion, was awarded to Mr. R. Younger.

The club has added an enlarging easel to the dark room equipments, so our facilities for enlarging are now complete.

On Thursday 7th November, an enjoyable outing was held on the River Hopkins.

The ordinary meeting of the Warrnambool Camera Club was held on Monday evening, the 4th December. Three new members were elected during the evening. Mr. R. Younger was awarded the first prize for the competition for November, The judge highly commended all the work exhibited, but pointed out that most of the entries were valuable commercially only, as they embraced too much for a competition subject. The club is taking steps to assist Warrnambool in advertising the town as a tourists resort by providing views of local beauty spots for framing and displaying at various railway stations. Mr. P.S. Younger is donating two trophies for the best collection of views.

On Thursday 7th December, a pleasant day was spent at “Dwarroon”, the country residence of the Mayor, Cr. Jno. Younger. After securing some views on the picturesque estate, the members were entertained at tea by the Mayor and Mayoress.

The subjects for next competition will be the best picture taken at the outing, and the best animal or figure study.
