THE QUIRINDI CAMERA CLUB
At a public meeting held in Quirindi on May 28th, it was decided to form a club for the purposes of stimulating interest in photography, the club to be known as The Quirindi Camera Club.

Those present at the meeting numbered eight in all, but since then the numbers have grown to twenty.

The meeting unanimously elected Mr. R.A. Newcombe as President. Mr. Newcombe was the moving spirit in the formation of the club and its progress is due largely to his interest and enthusiasm. Other officers elected were: Secretary: The Rev. C.J. Eldridge-Doyle, Treasurer: Miss Sheila Waterford.

Subsequent meetings have been well attended and lectures in the first principles of photography have been delivered by the more advanced members. Results of the first competition, A Road Scene, were encouraging and the winner was chosen by popular vote.

At the time of writing no permanent club room has been obtained but the energies of all the members are bent on finding suitable accommodation as darkroom facilities are a “must” if the work of the members is to be effective.

Recent activities have included demonstrations on development and printing of films and photographic outings, while at the next meeting on July 1st, member C. King, will demonstrate enlarging. Following this on July 15th, all members will try their hand at enlarging their favorite negatives.

A special meeting will be held on 8th July, when the president, secretary and leading workers from The Quirindi Camera Club are to pay us a visit and judge the results of our recent outing. Prints from both clubs will be displayed and criticisms exchanged, all visitors and prospective members will be particularly welcome on this night.

In the future it is proposed to hold an exhibition of photographic work by club members and leading photographers from all parts of Australia. Further details will be announced later.

A further reminder to all those who photographed any part of the Scone Coronation proceedings. If you want a first-class 10" x 8" enlargement of your picture, enter it in the Coronation Competition before July 8th. Entries may be handed in at "The Advocate" Office or to any club member.

Once again, all people who possess cameras or who are interested in any aspect of photography are urged to join this club and gain the utmost pleasure from their hobby.

On Wednesday of last week, the president, secretary and leading members of the The Quirindi Camera Club paid a visit to Scone and spoke on the formation of their club and the progress made over a year.

Mr. C. Hannaford, their critic (late of the Campsie Camera Club), on inspecting a general print display praised Scone Club's work, particularly print quality, and expressed the opinion that the club had made excellent progress.

The the club inspected examples of the The Quirindi Camera Club work, which included many charming child studies and some fine architectural shots.

The visitors next judged the results of the club's first outing competition. First place went to D.M. Saunders for his brometch, "High on the Tors", second to new member R. Russell and third to C. King.

On Sunday last an outing was held which covered the Timor district. The caves were visited and when favored by the sun many shots were taken.

Incidentally, Quirindi members expressed surprise that Scone had no lady members in the club. All prospective members and visitors (particularly ladies) will be welcomed at the meetings or demonstrations.
