Sydney International Exhibition of Photography

Patricia Beal FRPS, FAPS, APSA, PPSA, Hon FAPS

Residing in Sydney, Patricia has been involved in international exhibition photography for over 30 years.
Initially a transparency worker, these days her images are digitally obtained.
Patricia has participated in and contributed to, camera clubs and predominantly the Australian Photographic Society, of which she has been a member since 1974.
She held positions Chairing committees for Honours, Plagiarism and Overseas Exchanges and Exhibitions, culminating with a term as President from 2000 to 2002.
Patricia’s FRPS was gained with self-processed colour prints from her transparencies, while other skill awards were for exhibition success for the transparencies and subsequent digital images.
Currently Patricia exhibits in Open, Nature and PhotoTravel projected image sections of exhibitions.
With retirement has come more time to travel, especially in more remote areas, and the enjoyment of sharing images from more diverse places of origin.

Kerry Boytell EFIAP, FAPS

Kerry lives in Sydney and has been involved in photography for over 35 years. Kerry was a keen darkroom worker for many years, before embracing the digital era. She has judged nationals and internationals in Australia for many years. Kerry was invited in 2011 to judge the 1st PSSA International Digital Salon of Photography in South Africa and also be a keynote speaker.
Kerry has won many awards in both Nationals and Internationals and is ex-President of the North Sydney Leagues Photographic Society in Sydney, a position that she held from 2003 to 2012. She is interested in all aspects of photography but is especially keen on nature photography and the creative aspect of photography.
2012 Sydney International Exhibition of Photography was awarded the Federation International De L'Art Photographique blue badge award for the photographer who has achieved the highest number of total acceptances.
2012 Maitland International Salon of Photography was awarded the Federation International De L'Art Photographique blue badge award for the photographer who has achieved the highest number of total acceptances.
2013 VIGEX International Print Photography Salon gained the Most Successful exhibitor and also was awarded the Federation International De L'Art Photographique blue badge award for the photographer who has achieved the highest number of total acceptances.
2013 awarded a Highly Commended in the Heritage Bank awards in " Life is a Stage " category.

Mrs Shayne Cocks LRPS

Shayne started her photography journey in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2002. She used a film camera for a while then switched to digital.
Joined the Edinburgh Photographic Society in 2004 and worked her way up to Advance level in Open, Color and Digital sections. In 2005 attained the Gwyer Shield Award for beginners. In 2006 was presented with the Dunbar Trophy for the Intermediate section.
Entered several competitions in the UK with some success; and also entered the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers photographic competition in 2008 and received a Silver award for one of her prints.
Member of the The Royal Photographic Society and in 2013 has joined the Australian Photographic Society in the Digital Division.
Shayne started commercial photography in Edinburgh, after receiving a commission to photograph the Maintenance Workshop for ScotRail.
When Shayne moved back to Australia she attended TAFE and studied Certificate IV & Diploma in Photo Imaging. She started her own business C Photos in 2007, photographing Weddings, Christenings, Events and Commercial work.
Shayne did voluntary work for the Blue Mountains Musical Society, for several years and photographed Musical Theatre productions such as Annie, Les Miserable, Oliver, Sound of Music. Several images were used for the musical program, in the local newspaper Blue Mountains Gazette and Western Weekender in the Penrith District area.
Currently Shayne works for a community college teaching Basic & Intermediate Photography around the surrounding area of the Blue Mountains.
Shayne gives private lessons and workshops in basic Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
In 2013 she attended TAFE to study Graphic Design, this was to gain the knowledge to incorporate the design of illustration & Indesign into her photography business.
Shayne is a member of the Blue Mountains Photography Group, based at Springwood and has a passion of sharing her skills to new members and friends. Being part of a photography group is rewarding and especially great for meeting more photographers with the same passion. All I can say is "Don’t stop what you love doing…"

Allan Coker

Allan's interest in photography developed as a consequence of extensive overseas travel in 1978, including an overland trip through Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Indonesia.
On return to Australia in 1979 Allan developed his interest through various camera clubs and participated in a number of photographic tours through the Australian Outback. Allan's photographic interests expanded, and with the late Ron Pearsall, he set up the company Photo Adventures. During its operation Ron and Allan led a number of memorable trips to remote places from the Australian Outback, the Gulf Country and Kakadu.
Allan has exhibited successfully in both national and international exhibitions and regularly judges and presents on subjects, including photojournalism, black and white print making, the use off camera flash and photoshop. More recently he has provided photographic services to the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (South East Region) and to the Outback Car Trek.
During his photographic career Allan has tackled a wide range of subject matter from landscapes, people and portraiture, sport, photojournalism, fashion and street photography. Allan's work has been published in several magazines and he was the winner of the Asia Pacific Time Magazine, 'Essence of Australia' competition. His philosophy on photography is that a good photograph is created by the photographer, not the camera and that the photographer must show more concern and knowledge of their subject than with photography.

Mike Faulkner SSAPS

Mike purchased his first camera, a Pentax K1000 in 1978 and joined a camera club two years later on the advice of my mentor. Soon after Mike served various positions on that club’s committee for many years and he was rewarded with life membership.
In the mid 1980’s Mike attended a Federation of Camera Clubs judge’s course to become a Camera Club judge and later Mike was invited to judge National and International Salons.
Mike served for many years on the Federation of Camera Clubs, Sydney International Exhibition of Photography and the Sutherland Shire National Exhibition of Photography committees.
In 1984 Mike formed the Spectrum Photographic Group, helped form and run the Sutherland Shire National Exhibition of Photography, in 2000 he formed the Port Hacking Digital Artist Group and he now conducts a Digital and Photoshop Workshop in his camera club at Maitland.
Mike also mentors a group of Senior photographers at the East Maitland Computerpals.
Mike has competed at Club, National and International level in Slides, Colour and Monochrome prints and more recently EDI and digital prints with moderate success.

Jim Mason AFIAP, AAPS, ESAPS

Jim was born and raised in Sydney. His passion in the visual arts and photography in particular was fuelled by the viewing of National Exhibitions at the Royal Easter Shows and the Sydney Internationals during the mid 1960's. With a love of the Australian landscape and a desire to capture it all on film, Jim purchased his first SLR to enhance his interest. After completing Army National Service in 1971 he moved to Canberra to take up an appointment with the Commonwealth Service as a cartographer.
To develop his photographic ambitions further, he joined the Canberra Photographic Society in 1984 and the Australian Photographic Society in the following year. Ensuing self-taught skills in the monochrome wet darkroom yielded considerable successes in National and International Exhibitions with an abundance of acceptances and awards throughout the late 1980's and 1990's. Also during this period, Jim became active on both Society committees including a term as an APS Executive Director and subsequent member of the APS Management Committee.
With the rapid advancement in digital technology, Jim embraced the opportunity to further improve the art and craft in his newly chosen field of colour printing. In his recent retirement from the workforce he continues to enjoy the pursuit of photo imagery in travels to the Australian outback and beyond.

John R. Smith EFIAP, MPSA, FAPS

John purchased his first DSLR in 2006 as an adjunct to bird watching which progressed into photographing all things nature. Then progressed into Landscapes, Photojournalism and Photo Travel.
John started entering National Exhibitions in 2007 and entering International Exhibitions in 2008. Currently have over 4000 International acceptances and 200 International awards.
Was part of the Australian team in the FIAP Nature Biennials in 2008 in Spain and the 2010 in India achieving an Honourable Mention in the Indian Biennial. Was also part of the Australian Trans Tasman Competition team in 2009.
2010 PSA Who's Who Nature Division, achieved 10th in the world.
2011 PSA Who's Who Nature Division, achieved 19th in the world.

Patricia Stephens AAPS

Patricia lives at Weston in New South Wales. She received a Brownie Box camera when she was twelve, which started her interest in photography.
Patricia's main interest is nature photography. In 2005 Patricia and her husband Robert joined the Maitland Camera Club. Patricia is also a member of Maitland International Salon of Photography.
In 2006 Patricia started entering National and International competitions with the aim to gain Australian Photographic Society honors. Patricia has received many awards at National and International level.

Graeme Watson EFIAP, PPSA, FAPS, ESAPS

Graeme was born in Sydney but has called Canberra home since 1966. He has been a member of the Australian Photographic Society since 1963 and has served the Society in the role of Junior Vice President, Chairman of Nature Division, Deputy Chairman of Digital Division, a member of the Exhibition Services Sub Committee, and a trustee of the A.R.Andrews Trust.
Graeme joined the Cootamundra Camera Club in 1963 and then the Canberra Photographic Society in 1966 where he is still a member. Over the years he has acted as a lecturer and a judge at club, national and international level.
As an exhibitor, Graeme has entered National and International Salons with some success, gaining some 88 International awards as well as many here in Australia. He has also featured highly in the Photographic Society of America's "Who's Who" in past years.
