BAY and BASIN CAMERA CLUB
- 2008 (21st August) was the formation of the Bay and Basin Camera Club and held meetings at the President's house.

BLACKTOWN CAMERA CLUB
Thursday 22nd December 1960The Cumberland Argus (Parramatta NSW)
Associated with the art exhibition at the Nepean Summer Festival was an exhibition of photography, in which both black and white and color photographs of outstanding quality were shown. Besides entries from local camera enthusiasts, displays were received from the following camera clubs: Blacktown, Mosman, Springwood and Y.M.C.A. In the competition held in conjunction with the exhibition, black and white open championship was won by B. Mutze, of the Springwood Camera Club, with a shot called "Lunar Landscape". The interesting effect was gained by "turning up" a photograph of a stairway on the Faulconbridge water tower. Second in this class was "Gathering Storm", by Keith Musgrave also of the Springwood Camera Club. This photographer also took out third prize. The black and white landscape championship was won by Keith Musgrave, with J. Spieteri, of Y.M.C.A., second. First prize for the black and white portrait went to B. Mutze.
SLIDES
J. Porter, Y.M.C.A. won first prize for slides with an excellent shot, "Sand Patterns", taken at the Nepean River, Yarramundi. An enthusiastic husband and wife team travels from Concord to help conduct Blacktown Camera Club. They are Mr and Mrs G. Pughe, who hold the positions of club president and secretary respectively. "We don't mind traveling out to Blacktown because the camera club always seems to be doing some thing", Mrs. Pughe told the Argus.
The club's next important outing will be on Sunday 18th February, when members will travel via Mt. Keira to Shellharbour and Kiama. Cars will leave from the corner of Wallgrove Road and Western Highway, Blacktown, at 8am. Blacktown follows the custom of most camera clubs by conducting a monthly competition. Points awarded in the competitions are totaled at the end of each year and a trophy is presented to the highest point-scorer.
Next competition night will be on 6th March in the committee room at Blacktown Bowling Centre. The subject will be birds — either in cages or their natural environment. Mrs Pughe said the recent competition for night photography, using available light, produced some interesting and in many cases, outstanding entries from club members. Two photographers traveled into Sydney to look for suitable subjects. Prospective new members should contact Mr and Mrs Pughe at UF 2328.

All persons interested in the formation of a Camera Club in Dubbo are requested to attend a meeting at the Railway Institute rooms, Talbragar Street, on Thursday evening.
Friday 30th March 1917 Dubbo Liberal and Macquarie Advocate
A meeting of those interested in the formation of a Camera Club brought together a number of enthusiasts in the art of amateur photography in the reading room of the Railway and Tramway Institute on Thursday night, Mr. E. Ramus, President of the Railway Picnic Committee, was voted to the chair and in opening the meeting briefly announced the object of the gathering. The club would be run in connection with the Railway Institute, although it would not be confined to the members of that body. It should lead to social intercourse and would probably promote many enjoyable outings for members. Mr D.B. Thomson moved that the name of the club be the New South Wales Railway and Tramway Camera Club. This was seconded by Mr R.D. Harris and carried.
All those present handed in their names and the following officers were then appointed: Patron, Mr. Edmund Milne, Assistant Railway Commissioner, President, Mr E. Ramus; Vice-Presidents, Messrs. F. Lyle and R.D. Harris; Treasurer and Secretary, Mr J. Tull; Committee, Messrs. Ramus, Harris, Lyle, Weber, G. Simpson, V.B.J. Lesina, D. Bain, R. England, J.H. Campbell, R.M. Dickson, J. Tull and D.B. Thomson, with power to add.
A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. Thomson, Harris and Lesina and the President and Secretary, was appointed to frame draft rules for the conduct of the club and make provision for the amount of the annual subscription to be charged for membership. It was decided to meet regularly on the last Monday in each month. It was decided, on the motion of Messrs. Simpson and Thomson, to put in a non-competitive exhibit at the coming Railway Institute Educational Exhibition. Mr Thomson offered to donate two prizes of half-a-guinea each for a bird's-eye or panoramic view of the town of Dubbo, to be taken by a member of the club. The donation was accepted and Mr. Thomson thanked for his generous offer. The Chairman, in closing the meeting, offered to give a lecture on photography for half an hour on the 16th April. He thought that they had got things moving along on right lines now and the future promised well.
Monday 2nd April 1917Leader, Orange NSW
Commissioner E. Milne has been elected president of the Dubbo Railway Camera Club just formed. One wonders why it is that a club of this nature does not obtain in Orange, where amateur photography forms one of the chief pastimes amongst our young folk.

SNAPSHOTS FROM HOME LEAGUE Y.M.C.A.
Recently Mr Arthur Landon, organizing secretary for the Y.M.C.A. SNAPSHOTS League, visited Dubbo and arranged with the local Camera Club to start a branch of the League here. This was done. The objects of the League are to provide snapshots of the relatives, the home life, etc., of the boys fighting at the front. Application is made through the Y.M.C.A. overseas and the various branches throughout the world undertake to provide their snapshots free of charge. We would appeal to camera enthusiasts to join this League and assist in the good work. Mr G.W.J. Tull is the local Secretary of the branch.

A special meeting of the Dubbo Camera Club was held in the Railway Institute on Tuesday night, when there were present: President E. Ramus (in the chair) and Messrs Campbell, Bain, Simpson, England, Rusden, Dickson, Tull (Secretary Lesina and Thomson. Apologies for absence were received from Misses Ison and Sears and Mr Harris. The principal business of the meeting was a lecture and demonstration by Mr G.C. Simpson on developing plates and papers. Two plates that were exposed last Sunday were developed and the lecturer explained his process throughout and the materials used. Two prints were then taken on gaslight paper and developed in a similar manner. The demonstration was followed with keen interest and at the close a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the lecturer. This is the first of a series of further practical demonstrations. The chairman announced that through present members he would be pleased to gather in other students of photography, the Club being open to all.

ORANGE CAMERA CLUB
- 1st February 1913 - Leader (Orange NSW)
- That steps are being taken to form a camera club in Orange and several of the leading amateur photographers are keen on starting at once. A meeting is shortly to be called with that end in view.
- That there is plenty of scope for camera manipulators in and around Orange and the many beauty spots should afford pleasant recreation in transferring them to paper. An amateur photographic exhibition in the near future may be looked on as a certainty.
- 2nd April 1917 - from the Leader from Orange NSW
- Commissioner E. Milne has been elected president of the Dubbo Railway Camera Club just formed. One wonders why it is that a club of this nature does not obtain in Orange, where amateur photography forms one of the chief pastimes amongst our young folk.
- The Orange Camera Club was formed in 1957 as a predominantly slide (transparency) club. This was some years after a previous B&W print club had closed.
- As in any organization that exists for a long time there are periods of great achievement as well as periods of struggle. After being recognized on the 1960's as one of the strongest clubs, the Orange Camera Club went into decline both in numbers and standard of photography. Through the 1980's the club gradually recovered to its previous standards and gained a stronger membership.
- Originally the club was recognized for its Pictorial and Experimental photography, with Nature somewhat secondary, even though Ron Warnock was active in the Nature field. In the late 1990's had a reputation for Natural History and Pictorial photography, with the Experimental in the hands of one photographer. Whilst slides remained strong, small commercial prints were popular, as were Monochrome and Color prints.
- The club is active in the promotion of photography, each year they conduct the Photography section of the Orange Show.
- Towards the end of 1996, the Club took part in the 150 year Celebration of Orange by mounting an exhibition of Monochrome and Color prints entitled "Orange, Our City" in the Orange Regional Gallery.
- Close links are maintained with the Western Districts Association of Camera Clubs and the Robert Parkes Inter-club Competition which is between the Orange Camera Club, Bathurst Camera Club and the Blayney Camera Club.
- In 1997 the Orange Camera Club celebrated their 40th Anniversary by holding a weekend seminar. The lecturers were Mr Ian Bock and Mr Peter Hunter both from Melbourne Victoria, the third lecturer was Ms Jennifer Horsnell from Wagga Wagga NSW, who is a very successful International exhibitor in the Nature and Open categories.

PITTWATER CAMERA CLUB
Pittwater Camera Club Inc began in 1966 when Did & Charles Usher placed an advertisement in the Manly Daily for photographers interested in forming a Camera Club. The first to reply was Jim Mullens so Pittwater Camera club was formed.
The first meeting was at Did & Charles Usher’s home in late November 1966. They provided this venue to promote interest in photography. It wasn’t until 1973 the Club moved to the Presbyterian Hall in Barrenjoey Rd, Mona Vale because the number of members had grown. Other venues were the Mona Vale Bus Depot & Loquat Valley School. We now meet at our lovely venue BYRA Pittwater Rd., Bayview.
Pittwater Camera Club in those days were affiliated with the Federation of Camera Clubs and entered interclubs, Top Shot and the Brookvale Show. They were able to improve their photography much as we do now. They had many now famous photographers as judges - Lionel Howes, Winifred Schmidt and Les Barnet (Department of Education Photography) listed by USA authorities as among Worlds Top Photographers. We are still affiliated with FCC and members enter Topshot and other competitions.
Charles Usher was President then Patron until 1985. Jim Mullens was made an honorary life member early 80’s. Jim at that stage gained his AFIAP and was awarded The Leo Whittle Sportsman Photographer of the Year for his services to photography.
The club has now embraced the Digital era and our members come from a wide range of backgrounds and have varied photographic interests ranging from Creative photography to Landscape and Portraiture to name just a few. We endeavor to cater to all these interests by providing training and encouragement to all members.
In 2006 they celebrated their 40th Anniversary.

THE ENTRANCE CAMERA CLUB
- The club was formed in 1959.
- The Entrance Camera Club is a group of enthusiastic photographers situated on the Central Coast of NSW. Members comprise people from all backgrounds, retired people, younger people, photographers who began with film and in the darkroom, some who have started photography in the digital age, expert award winning photographers and new photographers who have just purchased their first camera. A passion for photography is the common interest. The Entrance Camera Club is affiliated with the Federation of Camera Clubs (NSW).
- The Monthly Competition forms the basis of the club. Learning from the critiquing, subsequent discussions with the judges and other members a great way to learn new photographic techniques which you can then try yourself next time the opportunity arises. The competition is divided in to A Grade and B Grade to assist new photographers and challenge the experienced members. A Grade is for advanced photographers, while B Grade is for beginning or less experienced photographers. In this way members are competing on a more level basis, while still seeing the images and hearing the judges comments for both grades. The grades are then divided again into Large Color Prints, Small Prints, Large Monochrome Prints and Digital Image sections. Members are able to compete in any or all of these sections as they choose. On alternating months in the Small Print and the Digital Image sections there is a Set Subject, otherwise all entries are open.

Wentworthville Camera Club won both the color slide and black and white sections of a competition at the weekend against Springwood Club. In the black and white section Wenworthville gained 335 points to Springwood's 305. Wentworthville won the color slide section by 346 1/2 points to 321 1/2 points. Twelve members from Wentworthville traveled to Springwood for the interclub competition.
Wentworthville member Mr Frank De Beer proved that glamor does not always count in the portrait competition. He won the section with his print of a cow. Springwood members concentrated on scenes while Wentworthville entrants preferred portraits or action studies.
Competition was close on the color slide section for individual entrants. Springwood member Mrs Shirlow took first prize with a Spanish street scene. She finished only a few points ahead of Wentworthville member, Mr Cres Clark, with a cleverly arranged snow scene slide.
Next meeting night at Wentworthville will be on October 20.

1953 The beginnings of the Wodonga Camera Club.
In the early 1950's, a number of Albury Camera Club members resided in Wodonga, some four miles away (Post Office to Post Office) from Albury. The tale is told that only one of the Wodonga members at that time owned a car. As all of the Wodonga members of the Albury Camera Club could not fit into one car, all could not attend meetings.
In early 1953, after some thought, Tom Willoughby, Ron Smallpage and others thought that a Wodonga based camera club might be a solution to the problem of not always being able to attend meetings in Albury. Messrs Willoughby and Smallpage called for a public meeting to gauge interest in the formation of a camera club in Wodonga.
The meeting was well attended and interest was sufficient that plans were made to continue with the formation of the Wodonga Camera Club. Tom Willoughby was nominated and elected as President, Ron Smallpage as Vice President and A.W. Smith as Hon.Secretary.
The constitution of the Wodonga Camera Club was written and adopted on 5th February 1953.
1970 the Constitution of the club was changed and the club was re-named the Wodonga Albury Camera Club. A couple of events precipitated this name change:
With the advent of the Albury Wodonga Development Corporation, the twin cities had begun to be linked by name if nothing else.
The Albury Camera Club had ceased to exist not long after the formation of the Wodonga club and Albury no longer had a camera club of its own.
The committee and members of the club refused to adopt the norm of putting Albury first though and named the club the Wodonga Albury Camera Club to reflect its origins in Wodonga.
